Architect + Builder

A tired kitchen becomes a new Family Room

There is an inherent value in swinging a hammer. It strengthens the synapses required in going from thought to action. For me, this is a quiet process without fanfare or boasting. The resolve to create stems from an early vision of what could be. And in this process there is no distinction between designer, architect and builder. Whenever I am presented with an opportunity to build something, I jump on it.

This project was a relatively small renovation by most standards. As in many families, the kitchen is a main gathering place. The original kitchen had a connecting room (the den) which was also where family members spent much of their time. I combined these two rooms to make one large greatroom. Skylights were added and flood the room with light.
The process of construction is documented here.
